South Congress

Work at Acton was pretty enjoyable today. We ordered lunch from Trudy’s and had an intern meeting. Michael was named Alpha Male of our wolf pack, haha. He looked SO smug when they announced this and, of course, he was looking straight at me. He drew me a picture, though.

“Kristin is awesome!” and “It’s a cube…a fast cube.”

Skipped Happy Hour to go down to SoCo with Annie-Lee and Moyo. We wanted to try the different foods from the trailers, but most of them weren’t open AND it was really hot outside (hello Texas summer!).

Since I was with those two, this turned into an opportunity for a photoshoot, of course. The next batch of photos are taken from Annie-Lee (see her Flickr account here!).

There are more on Facebook, but you get the general idea. It all sort of worked out because the three of us are very much into photography (and, not to mention, being photographed). It was so hot, so I ended up buying some froyo from a stand and it was delicious! Of course it had walnuts in it. Nomnomnom.

What adventures does tomorrow hold?

Everyone needs a lazy weekend every now and then.

I had a SUPER lazy weekend. Partly because the Republic of Texas was having their annual Biker Rally and downtown is NOT a place I want to be when that is going on. I’ll have more pictures later, but we could see where they were setting up for Robbie Knievel was going to jump over two Budweiser semi-trucks from our office.

Riso, Stan and I actually went down there to see it up close, but I haven’t uploaded those pictures yet.

I didn’t actually see Kaptain Robbie jump the trucks because they estimated about 200,000 people to be there for it. I’m not one for crowds. Here is the video, though, in case you’re wondering what it looked like.

Other than that, I spent time with my family and watched LOST all weekend. Also, I’m getting more into reading again. I’ve forgotten how nice it is to read for pleasure as opposed to for a class. I’m attempting to read A Widow for One Year by John Irving again.

I say “again” because I’ve gotten sidetracked the last couple of times I’ve tried to read it.

Annie-Lee and I went to go see Up this weekend and it was good! I really loved it.

It had a great message PLUS it was hilarious! People told me that I was going to bawl when I saw it, but I just teared up a bit. “I was hiding under the porch because I love you.”

Also, Albert called me shortly after we got back to the apartment and told me to meet him and his friends at Trudy’s for a couple of drinks. Who am I to say no to hanging out? I like his friends because it’s not super awkward. Y’know, you’re the “new” person in a group of friends (and this is a group of five boys, mind you) that has known each other for a long time/are pretty close and it could be weird and you could feel out of place, but that doesn’t really happen with them. They always include me in conversations and ask me questions, etc. Point is, I had a good time. Plus I haven’t seen any of them since school let out, so it was nice to catch up a little. AND I do like hanging out with just boys. They’re just easier to talk to sometimes.

Watch out! Tornado!

Thursday are never boring!

Zenil and I had another dinner date tonight. We’ve been on this cultural theme and tonight was Italian night. You can never go wrong with Olive Garden! Since he always comes and picks me up, I went up north to pick him up. I always love talking with Z because we have real conversations. Tonight we talked about our lives and how we’re getting old, etc. I forgot to take a picture of his handsome face, but I loved dinner!

We were leaving OG and the sky was black minus the constant lightning flashes on our way home. It started raining pretty hard by the time we reached his house. I was on my way back to my apartment and it was POURING. The sky was pitch black, but the lightning flashes were almost blinding. I slowed down to 30 mph and I still couldn’t see five feet ahead of me. I was so scared that I pulled over in the Dave and Buster’s parking lot. Zenil called me and told me to get in the building to wait it out. After awhile, the rain died down and I decided to go up north to my parents’ house since the storm already passed North Austin.

Of course there are the obligatory puppy pictures…

Kemo was hiding under the bed!

Glad the storm is gone! No more tornados, please.

Wednesday, when? Huh? What day?

Today was a typical day at work. Sit around. Run errands. Laugh, laugh, laugh.

Chase: Kristin, who is the ranking intern now?
Tracy and Susie: Kristin is.
Me: Well, according to Holly, Michael is in charge.
Tracy: Is that some bullcrap that Stan told her?

Teehee. No Happy Hour, but I was okay with that because I went to Plucker’s Trivia Night with Annie-Lee, Mattie and Sarah! Plucker’s has a trivia night every Wednesday and it was pretty fun minus the fact that most of the questions were geared toward men. We balled on the Nerd and Disney Audio sections, though.

Mattie knew all the answers to the Nerd Round. Future Jeopardy champ!

Annie-Lee wasn’t feeling the picture-taking.

Sarah and I had their Plucker’s lemonade. Pretty good, but pretty strong.

Apparently we have to start watching more TV and movies because we did terrible on those rounds. I won’t even mention the sports round…
